🖥️ CISIS database in ABCD
All files of the CISIS database used by ABCD are contained in a single directory. Subdirectories are present for specific goals and to address language dependencies.
📄️ Overview of database models
ABCD is not limited to a single format. Thanks to the flexibility of the ISIS technology, it comes pre-packaged with several international standards for different types of institutions.
📄️ Agrovoc (Thesaurus)
The agrovoc database is a specialized model designed for managing Multilingual Thesauri. It adheres to standards for controlled vocabularies (like ISO 25964), allowing for the management of hierarchical (BT/NT), associative (RT), and equivalence (USE/UF) relationships.
📄️ CEPAL / LILACS (Biblo)
The biblo database is an implementation of the bibliographic methodology developed by ECLAC (CEPAL) and widely adapted by BIREME for the LILACS methodology.
📄️ Dublin Core (Repository)
The dubcore database is an implementation of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) standard.
📄️ ISAD(G) (Archives)
The isadg database in ABCD implements the General International Standard Archival Description (2nd Edition). Unlike library catalogs which deal with discrete items (books), this model is designed for hierarchical descriptions of archival funds.
📄️ MARC 21
The marc database in ABCD is a full implementation of the MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data. It is the recommended model for general libraries that require Z39.50 interoperability.
